#503 Joanna Figueroa, Color & Design the Fig Tree Way Monday – July 12, 7:00 pm $5/$10 at the door
Ever wonder how a designer comes up with “a look”? Every wonder how fabric is designed? What were they thinking before it became fabric, and came into the store to tempt you to add it to your stash? Joanna will describe her perspective on “vintage colors” and their influence on her own color palette. She will then share the complete process of fabric design, from concept to store, showing both the creative and the technical sides to the entire process. What a unique opportunity to hear all about the creation of our wonderful fabrics. This evening event is included with Housing Options A and B.

#505 Mark Lipinski A Bull In A China Shop Wednesday – July 14, 7 pm $20/$30 at the Door
How does a man become a quilter, teacher, designer and lecturer and what has he learned in the process? How does working in the quilting arena differ from working in big business and what words of wisdom does Mark have for us? Have you’ve ever wondered why a successful television producer would give up a hefty six-figure salary for poverty wages to quilt? Travel with Mark from his boyhood Pittsburgh home, to San Francisco, Miami, New York, Chicago and New Jersey and learn how each of these places led him to becoming the quilt master he is today! From his first quilts to his last, see first-hand how a quilting duckling is trying to make you think he’s transforming himself into a quilting swan (if for no other reason than to feel better about your own quilt projects). Take a look at a trunk show of his quilts and his multiple UFOs and find out why he lost interest. Hear what inspires him and allow his life experience and outlook on the creative process to inspire you!
We are expecting this event to sell out so get your tickets early!! Please note – this evening event is included with Housing Options A and C for overnight campers.
